Why do i write like i'm British? hello, i find this very odd. i am a 20 year old American and i'm a writer. when someone reads a new draft of something i wrote they wonder if i'm British or something. could it be because i read so many European novels that the writing styles of the authors has affected me? i just find it weird.

First of all, there's nothing weird about it.

Your writing style is absolutely ok, free from grammatical errors, is a polished one and not devoid of formal courtesy. These characteristics are generally not found in American writing style.

Even the question that you put up here, is having all the qualities mentioned above. For example, at the starting of your question, you've written 'hello' which is a polished and formal manner of addressing to others and is found generally in English writings. If it was an American writing then the starting would have been 'hi' , 'hi' there', 'hey guys' , etc. I think this is the reason why people call your draft to be an English writing.

Besides, if you ask about the impression formation by the European writings that you've read, then in my opinion, it does not affects your writing style if you have a strong idea of your own style. But as a general rule, it does effect one's vocabulary & writing style both.

Hope this helps. All the best for your draft.

What lead do i need to connect my computer to my tv and use it as a moniter? the leads i look at have screws attached to them on both ends but the laptop does not. can anyone clarify this? ie is there a lead available which only has screws on one end only?

Firstly, are you trying to connect pc to tv or laptop to tv or pc to laptop? If you are trying to connect a laptop to tv, then there are various ways by which you can do so. As you've described in your question, it seems like it's a VGA cable which has two screws each at both the ends. If your tv accepts the VGA input, then don't worry about the screws. It is not necessary to screw them up, means if there is no provision in a VGA port for screws then just attach the cable and let the screws hang loose on the VGA plug. Other ways of connecting laptop/pc to tv are by using a HDMI cable, or S-video cable (both 5pin & 7pin), or component cable, etc. But only attaching the cable won't serve the purpose, you will have to do certain settings in the graphic properties of your pc. Hope this helps.

Can I legally download Microsoft Office Standard 2007 from anywhere? I previously had it installed on my laptop but had to restore it. I left the disk in a hotel but I still have the case with the product key and serial number on it. Every time I go to microsoft's website it only allows me to see Microsoft 2010 versions. Does anyone have a link where I can download it elsewhere? Or any other suggestions?

You can get the link from Microsoft customer support. I had faced a similar situation and mailed the Customer Support of Microsoft, to which they responded quite promptly asking for the key and serial # of the suite. After giving them these two details they provided me with a link from where I downloaded the suite. Hope this helps.

Should I go out with him or just stay friends? I have a guy friend that I have known for almost 20 years. We've always talked to one another about our respective dating/ relationship experiences and I have always valued our friendship. However last year I lost a significant amount of weight and all of a sudden he wants to hang out with me ALL the time, he calls me everyday and wants to make plans. In one way I am flattered because he seems to want to take our relationship to a dating level, but it kind of bothers me because he never acted this way until I lost weight. Should I give him a chance and date him, or is he superficial and I should just keep the friendship thing going.

Great Friends are very valuable these days. As you're stating, you were able to share about anything with him. It tells that he took a very good care of your's before your weight loss, otherwise you wouldn't have been so free with him about sharing your experiences. It is very rare to find, but highly sought for, that you may find a good friend in your partner. And here you are getting a chance to have a partner out of your friend. The weight loss thing might be just a coincidence. But this thing, whether it's a coincidence or not, can only be concluded by you after going through his previous situations and what he has shared with you at that time. But overall if he was sincere to you through all this time, before weight loss & afterwards, then it doesn't matter whether he is trying to date you now or he was not trying before-hand. It might be possible that he has noticed the attraction in 'you' now after weight loss, to which he was ignorant before. So go ahead and let him come close to you, but remain careful until you're not completely satisfied with his conduct. Hope this helps. Good luck

How much does Ralph Lauren cost in other countries besides the USA?

Please mention the markets about which you are enquiring, because Ralph Lauren is available in many nations outside USA.
